Aquarius is the sign that thinks. The sign of the mind, of the long view, of the ideas that arrive from somewhere just past the edge of your usual thought. It’s the sign that will honor its own truth above all else — above expectation, above what you’re supposed to want, above the version of your life you’ve been maintaining for other people. It’s the sign that quietly asks: is this actually yours, or did you just inherit it?
A full moon in Aquarius pulls this question all the way to the surface. And because it’s a full moon, it doesn’t just illuminate what matters — it also shows you, sometimes uncomfortably, what you’ve been giving your time and energy to that doesn’t.
This is the second Aquarius lunation of the year, which means we get to sit with the fuller picture now. What has this whole cycle been asking of you? What have you been circling around, working through, growing beyond? Full moons are a natural point of release, and this one has a particular clarity to it — the kind that comes from having enough distance to look back and see what you’ve been living through take shape.
So this full moon, we’re going to do something Aquarius would approve of. A clean, simple, honest inquiry. Two questions, side by side on the page:
What matters to me?
How do I honor that?
Simple to write. Not always simple to answer honestly. Which is exactly why the ritual works.
For this ritual, you’ll need:
About 20 minutes in a quiet, private space
A journal and something to write with — ideally opened to two facing pages
A cleansing herb or wood for the release portion. Sage, palo santo, a bundle of cedar.
Anything else your intuition tells you to bring in — a candle, a crystal, an essential oil, a tarot card, whatever your higher self is pointing you toward
Take a few moments to settle, and to look back — over the last month, the last six months, the last year. Let what needs to surface, surface. Then open your notebook.
On the top of the first page, write: What matters to me?
On the top of the second: How do I honor that?
And let the answers come.
After you’ve sat with the ritual — how are you feeling? Take some time to reflect on what surfaced and let yourself continue to write for as long as it feels good.
A note on the second page: for each thing you’ve named as mattering, try to write down at least one grounded, practical action that shows how you honor it. This is the Aquarius move — matching your actions to your actual values, not the values you inherited or performed. If anything on your list feels more like a should than a truth, let yourself clear it away.
Once you feel complete, this is when the cleansing herb comes in. Light your sage or palo santo, and as you do, imagine clearing out everything that isn’t on those pages — the physical, emotional, and energetic space that’s been taken up by what doesn’t actually matter to you. Then place one hand on your heart, and one hand on the notebook, and ask that your higher self keep nudging you toward what you’ve named.
