One of my biggest biz mistakes

One of the biggest mistakes I've made in my business of late has been pressuring myself to niche down to simply a "business coach."
Let me explain...
About a year ago I decided I wanted to scale my business. I had a really great first year back from maternity leave, I could see the impact I was making, and feeling deeply aligned with my soul's path, helping mothers and business owners make more money doing work they loved.
There was a moment where I decided that in order for my work to grow, in order for folks to clearly understand what I did and in order to make good money, I needed to step fully into the title of "business coach."
In a way I wasn't wrong: I am a great business coach. I love talking strategy and practical bits. I love helping women, and especially mothers, find their unique ways of working.
But I noticed as I stepped more into this role, the more I felt like this title no longer fit.
On one hand, I felt like I needed to be sharing certain types of content (more strategy, more step-by-step, more linear "this is the way"), that I needed to be showing certain sorts of results (ahem, money and clients), and that I needed to show up in a specific sort of way.
And on the other hand, whenever I introduced myself as a business coach, I felt a little like an imposter. Yes, business is what I know and do, and also it's so, so much more.
Earlier this year I announced that my membership community, the MOTHERMIND, would be evolving to focus more fully on business and entrepreneurship.
If I'm being fully honest, I thought this is what I had to do in order to grow.
But the truth was the opposite. The initial launch was very, very quiet, and so I found myself deep in introspection. Where did I go wrong?
I asked myself, I asked former members, and I asked you. And your response was overwhelming clear and actually quite obvious.
You're interested in growing in so many more ways than just your business or money.
You're here not just because you want to birth a business, or serve more clients or hit a certain money goal, but because you want to feel purpose, direction and clarity on your soul's work on a daily basis.
I say this is obvious, because it's what I want too.
Yes, I want my business to continue to support my family financially. And I would love to grow so that I can help more women.
And also... my deepest desire in this moment is a more simple life strongly rooted in my values. I want more time in nature, more time with my son and with Colin. I want more consistent self care and in person connections.
We also long for another child, and to find land where we can build a homestead and conscious community space.
More than setting up funnels or automated chat bots, I'm interested in connecting more deeply to my Jewish heritage, learning about Jewish mysticism and singing lost songs.
All of this is my soul's work. And this soul work realm is truly the realm that's a joy for me to dance with you in.
